For millions of people around the world, Charmaine and Neek Bey are familiar faces. Through VH1's Black Ink Crew, audiences watched their relationship evolve from dating to marriage, becoming invested in a love story that unfolded across seven seasons and more than one hundred episodes. Today, that same relationship has taken on a new form through Marriage or Mirage, their podcast dedicated to exploring the realities of modern marriage.

Beyond the microphones, the Beys have built impressive careers of their own. Charmaine is an award-winning radio personality at WGCI, Chicago's leading iHeartMedia station, while Neek is a computer programmer and entrepreneur specialising in mobile applications and software development. Together, they have built multiple businesses and cultivated a digital community of more than three million followers.

Their latest chapter has brought them to Kenya, where they are laying down new roots and exploring new opportunities.

This decisive move signals a shift in perspective for the couple: a new market, new possibilities and a desire to build within one of Africa’s most dynamic creative and business landscapes.

For AfriHue, our story with the Beys began after that move.

We met Charmaine and Neek during the I Do! Wedding Expo, where Neek took to the runway wearing one of Ashok Bespoke's latest designs. As the event's official social media partner, AfriHue had unique access to the exhibition and the people shaping the experience. Through Nathan, Head of Cocoa Models and RSVIP Africa, we were introduced to the couple. What began as a brief conversation quickly evolved into something more. Beneath the public personas was a story that deserved to be explored through a thoughtful editorial lens.

That first meeting led to an invitation we were honoured to accept: attending their vow renewal ceremony.

Business leaders, creatives, entrepreneurs and close friends gathered to witness the couple reaffirm their commitment to one another. Naturally, there was no shortage of photographers, media teams and brands hoping to capture the significance of the moment.

Yet what stood out most was the trust Charmaine and Neek extended to AfriHue. They allowed us to see beyond the spectacle and approach the celebration through our editorial lens. They understood that a powerful image is not simply captured; it is constructed through emotion, context and storytelling.

That experience confirmed what we sensed from our very first meeting: there was a much richer story to tell than what audiences had seen on screens and social media.

Stay tuned as we bring the Beys closer to you, exploring their journey, their decision to make Kenya home, their businesses, their partnership and all the other questions you've been waiting to have answered.
